Bio
Helena O'Shea served as goalkeeper for the Mighty Oaks Women's Soccer team at SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry from 2019-2023. During her collegiate career, O'Shea anchored the defense and was instrumental in the program's 2021 championship season, when the Mighty Oaks captured the USCAA Division II National Championship.
Throughout her four-year career at SUNY ESF, O'Shea developed a reputation as a hard-working and dependable teammate who balanced her athletic commitments with academic excellence. She was a key contributor to the team's success during one of the most successful periods in program history.
O'Shea graduated from SUNY ESF in 2023 with a degree in Environmental Studies, concentrating in Policy, Planning, and Law. Her academic focus reflected her commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable development practices.
Following her playing career, O'Shea transitioned into coaching, serving as head coach for the Eastwood Soccer Club in Syracuse, NY. In this role, she led and mentored players in grades 6-8, working to instill the same values of teamwork, resilience, and discipline that shaped her own athletic development.
Professionally, O'Shea works as an Environmental Analyst with Environmental Design and Research (EDR), where she collaborates on the development and permitting of large-scale renewable energy projects across the Northeast. Her work contributes directly to the advancement of sustainable energy solutions in the region.
O'Shea continues to combine her passion for soccer with her commitment to community involvement and environmental advocacy. As both a national champion goalkeeper and youth mentor, she remains dedicated to developing the next generation of players while pursuing her career in environmental conservation.
