ESF Timber Sports swept all 3 divisions during the 77th annual Spring Meet
For the first time in ESF history, the Timber Sports team took home the Spring meet championship trophies in all three divisions - Men's, Women's, and Jack and Jill. The 77th annual Spring Meet this year was held at the University of New Hampshire with athletes from all over the Northeast competing in 19 events over the course of the weekend. The team has been working hard all year to prepare for this meet and it paid off! After the first day of competition on Saturday all three ESF teams were ranked first in their divisions, scoring highly in team canoeing, log rolling, and pulp toss. On Sunday the ESF teams started the day in high spirits to maintain their lead with excellent scores in team sawing, chopping, packboard, and doubles and singles events.
The women's division had 7 competing teams and ESF placed first by a wide margin of 25 points. The womens team scored first place in 11 of the events with close second and thirds in most of the other events. The womens team really found their groove this year - working together and training effectively to win every meet this season.
The mens division had 9 competing teams and was a close race between ESF, Paul Smiths, and UMaine with only 9 points separating first and second place. ESF was able to reclaim the trophy after narrowly losing it the year before. The mens team placed first in 7 events and had close second and third places for many other events.
The Jack and Jill team has made immense progress this semester with an entirely new line up of athletes this to win the J&J trophy for the second year in a row. The Jack and Jill division had 6 teams competing and was the closest race of the day with ESF winning by 1 point. The team placed first in 7 of the events was consistently in the top three for almost all of the other events.
This meet was an excellent end to the season, especially for the many graduating seniors to end their collegiate Timber Sports journey with such a victory for ESF.
